📖 Foundation Scriptures (NKJV)
Joel 1:14–16 “Consecrate a fast, Call a sacred assembly; Gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land Into the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord. Alas for the day!
Zechariah 10:1 “Ask the Lord for rain in the time of the latter rain. The Lord will make flashing clouds; He will give them showers of rain, Grass in the field for everyone.”
Acts 4:29–31 “Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.” And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness!
Mark 9:29 “So He said to them, ‘This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.’”
Mark 9:24 “Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, ‘Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!’”
🙏 Purpose of the Fast
As a church family, we are entering into 21 days of consecration, prayer, and fasting. This is a set apart time to:
• Draw near to the Lord in worship, prayer, and devotion (James 4:8).
• Contend for breakthrough in areas of our lives that seem resistant to our current measure of faith.
• Seek breakthrough in personal and corporate areas of our lives.
• Stand in the gap for our city, our nation, and Israel.
• Cry out for sovereign conversions of those who are in opposition to the Church of Jesus Christ and have been radically hostile to truth and God’s sovereign plan for America!
• We invite you to seek the Lord for your personal fasting strategy. His grace will sustain you, and His Spirit will empower you during this sovereign season of consecration (2 Corinthians 12:9).
🍞 Types of Biblical Fasts
• Complete Fast (No Food, Water Only) Example: Moses fasted on Mount Sinai (Exodus 34:28).
• Partial Fast (Restricting Certain Foods or Meals) Example: Daniel ate only vegetables and water (Daniel 10:2–3).
• Corporate Fast (As a Community or Nation) Example: The people of Nineveh fasted and repented, and God showed mercy (Jonah 3:5–10).
• Fast from Distractions Laying aside entertainment, social media, or other distractions to focus on God (Hebrews 12:1–2).
• A fasting strategy using a combination of fasts.
Choosing a Fasting Plan
• Wait on the Lord. Pray and ask God for a wise and safe way to fast.
• Ask God (and yourself) if the fast you are considering requires you to “deny your flesh? (Matthew 16:24)” In other words, if you already tend to skip breakfast, or you tend to stop eating by 8:00 PM each night, consider a fasting plan that requires you to lean more on the grace of God than on your present level of discipline.
2 Samuel 24:24. (NIV)
“I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.”
Count the cost!
Luke 14:28 “Which of you, desiring to build a tower does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?
Consider the following:
• Is this a fasting plan you are willing to stay with from beginning to end? Review your calendar and upcoming commitments.
• What will you have to say no to for the next 21-days? Are you willing to deny yourself the birthday cake at your friend’s party, or skip an upcoming social function that may temp you to break your fasting plan?
If you are new to fasting, or have not fasted food for a while:
• Begin to gradually reduce your food and beverage choices such as coffee, caffeinated drinks, sugar and processed food 3-4 days before your fast—this will help your body with the detox symptoms the removals of these may cause and will make the transition into your fast much easier. Without pre-fasting preparation, your body may be sure to let you know it’s not happy with you!
• If you are new to fasting, or have not fasted food for a while, begin by gradually skipping meals over a few days, or beginning with a 24-hr water or juice fast if you are new to water, juice, or modified fasting. If you're fasting with juice, choose fresh options—organic if possible—and prioritize those with a low glycemic index. Juices high in sugar can spike insulin levels and trigger unwanted physical reactions. To reduce sugar content, dilute sweeter juices with purified water. Whenever possible, opt for green juices and those naturally lower in glycemic impact.
• Allow your body time to experience a fast and monitor your symptoms.
• Evaluate how your body tolerated the experience. Again, reach out to your health care professional if you are experiencing medical issues that feel unsafe, or if you have questions about your health and physical safety.
Build in accountability to your fasting plan
• Get a fasting partner!—Consider fasting with a friend or fellow KRIM faster.
• Plan daily “check-ins” with your fasting partner and encourage each other as needed.
• Continue to meet during your time of fasting, including the time of breaking your fast—this can provide additional accountability and help you avoid overeating as you transition back to your normal way of eating.
• Pay attention to foods that do not agree with you after your fast. Your body may have made adjustments, and there may be some foods you choose not to include in your regular eating.
💧 Health, Safety, and Spiritual Priorities
• Hydration: Drink water throughout the day. Set goals to remain properly hydrated.
• Medical Caution: If you are pregnant, nursing, or are currently dealing with disordered eating (eating disorders), DO NOT FAST FOOD. (Proverbs 4:7).
• If you have any health issues, questions or concerns about fasting and its effect on your body, are modifying your diet in order to fast, are on prescription medication or over the counter drugs, or you are new to fasting, please consult your healthcare provider prior to beginning any type of fast. Do not discontinue any medications without consulting with your healthcare provider.
• Address any questions concerning your health with your healthcare provider.
• Non-Food Options: If fasting food is not a wise or medically safe option for your, seek non-food fasting strategies such as:
◦ Media
◦ Video games
◦ Texting and unnecessary phone time
◦ Other distractions that compete for your heart and attention (1 John 2:15–17).
• Most Important: Intentionally create time to pray, read your Bible, and worship (Matthew 6:6; John 4:23–24).
• Without Prayer, Fasting Falls Short: Fasting without prayer will not bring about the breakthroughs God intends (Mark 9:29).
• For Such a Time as This! This is a time to pray over prophetic promises and posture your heart to be reignited with fresh fire and renewed in first-love passion for Jesus (Revelation 2:4–5).
🌱 Levels of Focus in This Fast
Micro (Personal Breakthroughs)
“Freedom, deliverance, healing, and direction for yourself, your family and loved ones, your business, ministry, or any other area of need.”
Mezzo (Citywide Revival)
• Spiritual reformation in Tulsa, Oklahoma and surrounding cities/towns.
• Awakening in churches, schools, businesses, and local government.
Macro (National & Global)
• Our Nation: An outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the Seven Mountains of Influence (Religion, Family, Education, Government, Media, Arts & Entertainment, Business).
◦ Protection for President Trump, his family, and his cabinet.
◦ Raising up of godly leaders across all 50 states and U.S. territories.
◦ Radical Conversion of Opponents: As it was in the days of Saul of Tarsus, we cry out for the radical conversion of those seeking destruction of godly leaders, values and prophetic voices—especially in light of the recent assassination of conservative Christian activist, Charlie Kirk.
📖 Galatians 1:13 (NKJV):
“For you have heard of my former conduct in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God beyond measure and tried to destroy it.”
📖 Acts 9:1–6 (NKJV):
“Then Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest and asked letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. As he journeyed, he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven.
Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?’ And he said, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ Then the Lord said, ‘I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads. [Translation: “It’s useless for you to fight against Me—you’re only hurting yourself.” Or, “The more you resist My direction, the more painful it will be for you.”]
So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?”
Then the Lord said to him, “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
Israel:
◦ God’s sovereign protection.
◦ End to the war and safe return of all hostages.
◦ Salvation and healing for all those impacted by the war—Jews and Palestinians.
◦ Fulfillment of His prophetic timetable (Psalm 122:6; Romans 11:25–27)
Breaking a Fast:
Dr. Mindy Pelz recommends a gradual approach to breaking a 3-day water fast by following four steps, waiting 30-60 minutes between each: 1) drink bone or vegetable broth to coat the gut, 2) eat a probiotic-rich meal with healthy fats to support gut bacteria, 3) consume steamed vegetables for fiber and nutrients, and 4) add protein to help with muscle repair and sustain energy. This strategy helps prevent the "boomerang effect," where the body overeats after a fast, and replenishes the body with essential nutrients for sustained health and energy.

Step-by-Step Fast Breaking Plan
1. 1. Bone/Vegetable Broth: . Start by sipping bone or vegetable broth, which gently coats and prepares the digestive system.
2. 2. Probiotics & Healthy Fats: . Follow the broth with a meal rich in probiotics (like sauerkraut or coconut yogurt) and healthy fats (such as avocado and chia or hemp seeds) to promote beneficial gut bacteria.
3. 3. Steamed Vegetables: . Introduce steamed, fibrous vegetables to provide essential nutrients and fiber, which feed the good bacteria in your gut.
4. 4. Protein & Carbs: . Finally, incorporate protein-rich foods like fish or meat for muscle repair, and a small amount of complex carbohydrates such as sourdough bread to sustain energy.
Why This Approach Is Effective:
1. Prevents the Boomerang Effect: . By reintroducing food in stages, you avoid overwhelming your system and prevent overeating.
2. Supports Gut Health: . The focus on bone broth, probiotics, and fibrous foods helps to heal and strengthen your gut microbiome.
3. Replenishes Nutrients: . This gradual approach ensures your body receives the necessary nutrients to support energy levels, muscle repair, and overall well-being.
4. Optimizes Fasting Benefits: . By breaking the fast carefully, you can better leverage the full range of benefits from your fast, including improved metabolic health.
